ANNA CLAIRE
 |
Anna Claire arrived at Jungle Friends at the end of May 2003, along with her older sister Sarah, and was later joined by her younger sister, Katie Scarlett. Like Sarah, Anna Claire is diabetic. It is this that led to her human mom's final decision to transfer her monkeys to the sanctuary. Jungle Friends staff have had tremendous success in managing diabetes in monkeys, often without resorting to insulin therapy or in some cases, actually weaning them off insulin. Although Anna Claire was in critical condition when she arrived, she, too, is responding well to the JF environment.

Like Sarah, Anna Claire loves to flirt with the volunteers. But she also enjoys a slower pace than her sister. While Sarah races around, Anna Claire likes to take her time, and carefully inspects her habitat to see if anything interesting has been added or possibly any food has been overlooked. Anna Claire also enjoys rough-and-tumble play with her other sister, Katie Scarlett, who is blind. Anna Claire often seems to get the worst of it, but never seems to mind. She is devoted to her special little sister.
