Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,

I write to you through my grief of losing our dear Precious, to tell you that Buddie is now very ill.

On New Year's Day Buddie did not come to greet me for her morning meds; Buddie is diabetic. When I found her she was having trouble breathing, just as Precious was. I called to Lee and Larry for help and we got her into a transfer cage and rushed her to the vet school. She was diagnosed with a nasty pneumonia. Her blood tests were all normal, so it was not an auto immune problem, like Precious, which I first suspected. Because of her diabetes, Buddie is more susceptible to disease.

We almost lost her and feared for her life up until early this afternoon. We feel that she is stable now, but not out of the woods by any means. Bacterial pneumonia is difficult and our vets tell us that it could be fatal or have long term problems, if she recovers.

Buddie is in a makeshift oxygen tent with a humidifier here at Jungle Friends. We are using all of Larry's diving tanks and gauges to get the oxygen to her. We are with her 24/7; Lee and I are taking shifts being with her at all times while Larry is running twice a day for more oxygen.

A very special thanks to Erin, Sara, Shannon and Jessica for rushing to our aid to help us with Buddie and keep Jungle Friends running smoothly in our time of desperation.

Please light a candle, pray, send healing energy and thoughts to Buddie. She will hear you!

Buddie Buddie

Lots of monkey love,
Kari and the monks
