Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,

We have a new arrival to Jungle Friends: Wanda. She is a very sweet tufted capuchin who has really hit it off with Connie and Kabooki. Connie is very happy about having a new friend to play with since Buddie is spending most of her time with Scooter. Even Kabooki joins in the fun; the three of them play together most of the day and grooming is shared by all.

I am happy to report that our lonely Jimisett finally has a companion! Mojo Jojo is another common marmoset and a very handsome young fellow. From the first day they met, Jimisett has not left his side, they eat together, sleep together, play together and have lovely grooming sessions -- we think they must be soul mates.

Stacey working with Curri

Although we are still having to hand feed Curri every few hours, she is drinking much better and we have discontinued giving her fluids under the skin. Her eyes are much brighter and she seems to feel a little bit better. Curri went in for a re-exam, radiographs and an ultra sound last Friday. The physical exam revealed nothing new: vital signs were within normal limits and her tendons were still contracted with severe muscle atrophy. However, multiple abnormalities were observed on diagnostic imaging in Curri's pancreas, and in her gallbladder, she has gallstones. This may be the reason for her loss of weight, as she is unable to properly digest and absorb her food. There is also the chance of liver disease. It is possible that Curri's problems arise from a congenital disease or because she stopped eating after her monkey companion Moe died. We hope to know more as results come in. As for now, we are encouraging her to eat a balanced diet. Curri's bones, however, looked pretty good. We were concerned about bone disease but the radiographs showed none, so we have started more assertive physical therapy sessions.

CJ has been working diligently on our website, so be sure to check it out. She has all of our new 20+ monkey arrivals up on the site. We hope you will go to the website and meet them! Stacey, who made our new monkey DVD, also made QuickTime videos for many of the Jungle Friends monkeys. CJ also has them up on the site, and you will want to be sure to see the Jungle Friends monkeys in action!

If it is a gift, just let us know and we will include a monkey gift card for you. The 'Adoption Packets' are available for a donation of only $25! They make great gifts!
