Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,

Jack and Jill are two brown capuchins who arrived at the sanctuary a few days after Christmas. Both monkeys have settled into their new home very nicely.

November 2, 2005 police dispatch responded to calls about shots fired at a residence in Ohio. Two men were found shot to death and another man critically wounded. Investigators found drugs, cash, automatic weapons, a pit bull, an alligator and Jack, a 2-½-year-old baby capuchin monkey tied to the back porch. All the animals were taken to the county animal shelter. Dayton Humane Society contacted Primate Rescue Center, who contacted Jungle Friends. Jack was underweight, dehydrated and had urine burns on his little behind. Jack arrived at Jungle Friends just a few days after Christmas. Connie, the matriarch of the group, welcomed Jack with lots of attentive grooming and rough and tumble play!

Before Jack arrived we received another call from Primate Rescue Center regarding another monkey, who we call Jill. She had evidently escaped her cage and was found running loose in Kentucky, where 'pet' monkeys are illegal, which is probably why she was not claimed. Jill is a shy brown capuchin who appears to be in good health, except that someone had most of her teeth extracted!

Jack and Jill have been introduced to Connie, Kabooki, Tyler and Wanda and they are doing better than any of us could have hoped. Jack is all boy and keeps everyone on their toes with his outrageous play and Jill is very sweet and loving.
