Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,

Gizzy's blood work showed little improvement and he appears to have mast cells in his lymph nodes. His white blood cells are abnormal, which indicates that it is most probably in his bone marrow (immature version of white cells, Basophile) which indirectly suggests mastcytoma. His PCV was 11.4 % and reticulocyte is 3.4%. Dr. Reyes tells us the prognosis is not good, it is the worst. BUT for the past few days he has been eating, playing and appears to be doing very well, so we are very happy about that! AND I am still expecting a miracle for Gizzy!

Gizzy just had his third birthday last April 24th, I watched Giz come into this world. Gizmo is son to Scooter and Pickles and at 9 days old he started failing to thrive and falling off his mom, I thought she had run out milk, so I took him into my care to raise with the help of Susan & Dave and the other monks. We slept with him and carried him on our backs, everyday he saw his natural parents and went in with Connie and several other monks of the same species. Pickles rejected him, however, Scooter still adores his only son. Scooter screams with joy at the sight of Gizzy and Giz screams back his pleasure in seeing his dad. Connie, one of our diabetic monks, took Giz under her wing and became his surrogate mother and she still cares for him to this day, grooming and fussing over him. Giz is best friend to Tyler and has a love - hate relationship with his girlfriend Buddie. Giz will share his food with anyone who will take it, he will even chew it for you first. Upon introduction Gizzy will ask for your hand to hold and lip smack wonderful monkey kisses all the while and you will never forget his gentle nature. Gizzy is adored by all who meet him, human or non-human alike. There are many of us who are hoping and praying that Gizzy will come through this, please join us in his recovery.

Lots of monkey love,
Kari and the monks
