Clyde arrived at Jungle Friends in 1995. He is our largest white-faced capuchin and the most amorous. He lives with his most cherished wife, Cuddly. Clyde is an older monkey and likes to spend his time with Cuddly, not being bothered by humans. He is very protective of his space, and we human primates are only allowed to stay near his cage with his permission. If he, or any other monkey, threatens us, we immediately avert our eyes and walk away. Since they are not free to live in the rainforest, as they should, we allow them some control over their own environment.
Clyde's favorite foods are peanuts; you always know when peanuts are being served as Clyde's "good food" sounds can be heard through out the sanctuary! Clyde also loves to use mirrors to "spy" on things over his shoulder. We have numerous mirrors throughout his cage since he utilizes them so frequently. You may get the feeling that someone is watching you and sure enough, it is Clyde with his mirror spying on you! Clyde is the Jungle Friend's "watch-monkey". He is always on the lookout for things that are out of place or for new faces. When Clyde gives an alarm call, you know something is amiss. He is not all tough guy though, he is very gentle with Cuddly, spending much of his time playing with her, grooming her and protecting her. Clyde and Cuddly are two of the happiest monks at Jungle Friends.
