Moses set his people free...and now he is free

Dear Friend of Jungle Friends,

Sunday morning Moses died in his sleep among his monkey friends. We are all missing Moses and so very sad that he had to leave us. We are so very happy that Moses was able to spend his 'golden years' at Jungle Friends.

It is nothing short of a miracle that Moses was released from laboratory research, along with his seven squirrel monkey friends. Moses has quite a story...

Moses was given his name because he 'set his people free'. You see, when Moses was in the lab he and his other squirrel monkey friends were trained with food rewards. Something went terribly wrong...

Too much food was withheld and Moses nearly starved. Because of this, the research was ended and all of the monkeys in Moses' group were freed - they were sent to Jungle Friends to live out their lives in dignity. Away from the steel cages and isolation, to a larger life.

Over the years, Jungle Friends has been asked to take in hundreds of monkeys from research laboratories. We are extremely happy with this trend of retiring the monkeys from research, but we need your help!

Moses will never be forgotten, his spirit will live on at Jungle Friends. We will miss Moses, but take comfort in knowing that he is now free.
