Celebrities at the Genesis Awards!

Dear Friends of Jungle Friends,

I am very happy to be back home with the monkeys after a productive trip to the Humane Society's Genesis Awards, thanks to some very generous supporters who felt it would be a great networking opportunity.

The Genesis Awards pay tribute to the major news and entertainment media for producing outstanding works that raise public awareness about animal issues. Even though we weren't on screen this year, Jungle Friends had some screen time on National Geographic's 2010 documentary "My Child is a Monkey," which was recognized at the awards last year. 

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Cloris Leachman, who is one of my favorite comedians - loved her in Young Frankenstein! Cloris plans to stop by Jungle Friends the next time she is in Orlando. I was able to visit with Cindy Landon, wife of the late Michael Landon, who sponsors our own Don Knotts. I was even privileged with the opportunity to chit chat with Moby.

The Animal Rescue Corps gang also attended the awards, so I got a chance to see these great folks who helped us rescue Louie a few weeks ago. (Watch Louie's first day!)

And, as if it wasn't already fantastic enough, my week was topped off by the great news that we – or should I say YOU – met the $5,000 Money for Monkeys Match. The monkeys thank you!
