June 14, 2011 - Kari's Excellent Adventure and the "Odd Couple" arrive in Munchkinland!

Dear Friend of Jungle Friends,

It has been a very busy and exciting season here at Jungle Friends. I have been travelling across the country representing Jungle Friends and have been meeting some really dedicated and enthusiastic animal activists!

I went to a super Whale Wars premiere at the Santa Monica Pier, a Social Compassion in Legislation event at the old Elvis Presley estate, and the Mercy for Animals event honoring our Hidden Heroes and Bob Barker. On my way home, I went to the Monkees concert in Jacksonville with information about the Jungle Friends Expansion Project in the hopes they would give a benefit concert - you just never know! It will be back on the road again for me next month for the 2011 Animal Rights Conference. I hope to see you there!

LOVE that Monkey Art!

Bob Barker loves
Monkey Art!

Jungle Friends founder Kari Bagnall joined compassionate celebrities, animal advocates, and other high-profile, socially conscious individuals in the Hollywood Hills to celebrate Bob Barker’s more than 30 years of groundbreaking activism on behalf of the animals. Mr. Barker donated $250,000 to Mercy for Animals to continue their important work. Kari and Marina presented him with a beautiful work of art created by our own spider monkey, Goldie Hawn. Mr. Barker was thrilled with the masterpeiece.

Munchkinland's new
"Odd Couple"!

A red-handed tamarin named Willy and a black tufted-ear marmoset named Arie were purchased as 'pets' a couple of years ago. Housed together since they were infants, they did have some tiffs and would never be caught sleeping together, yet they got on pretty well. It was not bad enough that these two babies were stolen from their natural parents and sold into the pet trade; the 'owner' was sent away and these two little darlings had nowhere to live. Euthanasia seemed to be the only option until Grandpa stepped in! Grandpa called Jungle Friends and asked if we could accommodate these two and offered to pay for a habitat for them here at the sanctuary. Well, here they are, having a great time, but they need sponsors!
