Kabooki- see Memorial

Kabooki, a tufted capuchin, arrived at Jungle Friends on March 12, 2004 when he was nine-years-old. Kabooki was purchased from a breeder in Michigan and sold to a family in Maine. A few years later he was advertised again "for sale" and went to live in Connecticut with a couple who had a white-faced capuchin. After one year, the humans broke up and Kabooki was without a monkey companion again. In the year that followed, Kabooki's weight fluctuated and he became very ill. He was diagnosed with diabetes. Being unknowledgeable and mislead the owner gave Kabooki the wrong amounts of insulin twice a day for 6 months. During this time, Kabooki was out of control, viciously biting and in need of help. The owner traveled to Jungle Friends with Kabooki to get help and six months later he was a full-time Jungle Friends resident, off insulin and interacting with his own species. Kabooki enjoys his new position as the alpha male in his group and has many monkey friends.
