Bongo is a tufted capuchin, estimated to have been born in the late 1980's and arriving at Jungle Friends on April 8th, 2005. Bongo was stolen from his rainforest home and sold into research where he lived for nearly two decades. Bongo and his monkey friends were housed separately in the laboratory, living indoors in a sterile environment.
Fortunately, after the research program ended, Bongo and eight other tufted capuchins were retired to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary. Here at Jungle Friends, they all enjoy large, naturalistic outdoor habitats. Bongo loves his new home and enjoys making friends with the other monkeys, especially PC. He certainly is popular with the other monkeys, flashing a bright play face to all he meets.
