Charlie Brown is a 4-year-old brown capuchin with a very sweet disposition. Charlie’s humans met Charlie when he was up for sale at a pawn shop where he was being persecuted by the customers. They bought him to get him out of the horrific situation he was in and cared for him until it was obvious that Charlie needed to be with other monkeys - monkeys do not make good ‘pets’!
They told us that Charlie really enjoys watching movies, so we hooked up a TV/VCR combo in his indoor enclosure and have been playing movies for him non-stop. He especially enjoys movies with dogs in them.
Charlie also enjoys playing with his monkey toys and could keep himself amused for hours on end with them; however… When Charlie spied Elvis in a neighboring habitat, he was enthralled. We decided it was time for the two boys to meet.
We first introduced Elvis and Charlie with the monkey stop/fork between them; they played and groomed each other through the fork immediately. A few days later, we removed it and they were exceedingly grateful! Now that the boys have moved in together, Charlie doesn’t have much use for movies any longer; he has a real life of his own with a full agenda of monkey fun.
Charlie and Elvis are the new “play champions” of Jungle Friends: they’ve turned playtime into an all-day marathon event. It wears me out just watching their wild rough and tumble play! At night they curl up together to sleep; it is especially heartwarming when you have such a great match!
