Macy is a white-faced capuchin who was born in Virginia on 8/25/01. She arrived at Jungle Friends on 4/17/06. Macy was born into the exotic pet trade and stolen from her natural mother’s arms. Macy’s ‘owner’ was working for the breeder when she was born and the ‘owner’ found out first hand the insidious nature of the exotic pet trade. Not wanting Macy to be doomed to a life as a breeder, she bought Macy and quit working for the breeder.

Macy was only a few years old when she started to self mutilate; Jungle Friends was contacted. After numerous emails, long talks and a visit to Jungle Friends, the ‘owner’ realized that what Macy needed was to live with other monkeys. So, the ‘owner’ brought Macy to Jungle Friends.

Macy has a very sweet disposition and loves to play. She has adjusted to life here in Florida better than we could have hoped. Macy has her eye on a new arrival, Christopher, another white-faced capuchin in a neighboring habitat. Christopher is also good-natured and we feel the two will get on very well. We are hopeful that Christopher and Macy will be enjoying one another’s company soon.
