Tripoli

Tripoli Tripoli is a cotton-top tamarin who was born on New Years day in 1999 and arrived at Jungle Friends on July 14, 2008 with nine other special-needs tamarins. These monkeys found a home at Jungle Friends when a research laboratory closed its doors.

Originally there were seventy cotton-top tamarins in need of homes. It took a full year of planning, fundraising, building and networking with other sanctuaries and organizations to find placements for all seventy. The ten who arrived here at Jungle Friends are enjoying their new home, discovering the great outdoors for the first time, getting a taste of a new, larger life - and reminding us why we do what we do!

Volcano and Tripoli Tripoli is a sweet boy a bit larger and fluffier than his companion Volcano. He usually waits patiently for Volcano to take food first, but was thrilled to find that we usually put one food bowl inside and one outside, so he is sure to get some of his favorite foods.

Tripoli and Volcano were the first to venture down the long runways in Tamarin Town and were delighted to discover a much larger open space to play in and explore. They were thoroughly enjoying their new outdoor habitat until it started to rain. They were not pleased with that new experience, and were not sure what to do, so we guided them back through their runways and inside. We were worried that the unexpected downpour might have dampened their enthusiasm for the outside world, but as soon as the rain let up, back out they went! And when another shower came along a couple of hours later, Volcano and Tripoli chose to stay outdoors and play in the rain.
