Jak Jak arrived at Jungle Friends when he was just over a year old and still on formula. Here he met another baby monkey named Abby who arrived the same day. Abby and Jak Jak have a lot in common. Not only are they the same age, they both have endured a lot of disruption in their short lives as 'pet' monkeys. Jungle Friends is the fourth home for both Abby and Jak Jak! Jak Jak was taken from his natural mother at only six weeks of age and sold into the exotic pet trade. When his 'owner' died eight months later, he was passed off to a new home. Jak Jak's new humans believed they were doing 'right' by Jak Jak when they agreed to adopt him -- until they saw Jungle Friends featured on ABC Primetime. Then they understood that being a pet was no life for a monkey. Jak Jak needed to be with other monkeys! Jak Jak loves playing on the "toys" that hang in his habitat. His favorite activity is to leap from the top of the barrel into the bucket, which he does with the dexterity of an athlete. Jak Jak was quite shy and timid when he was a youngster, especially in comparison to Abby's wild ways, but he has certainly come into his own and matured. Jak Jak has finally found a home -- and he will never be uprooted again.
