Loopy

Loopy was among a group of capuchins who had been rescued from a bankrupt roadside zoo. He is missing a leg -- we were told by the keepers at the zoo that it was bitten off by another male monkey when he was just a baby. Loopy had been living in an enclosure with 24 other capuchins. We were told that he was the only monkey who still needed a vasectomy, so that was performed at the zoo prior to his arrival at Jungle Friends. We knew the group included a nursing mother and infant, but they were part of a family group occupying a single habitat, so it sounded like a simple rescue. Then things got complicated! We were told all of the other males were vasectomized, so it was a surprise when three of the monkeys gave birth! Loopy and the other males were separated into a bachelor group until all of the males had vasectomies. Loopy and his friends are all enjoying their beautiful habitats equipped with buckets, barrels and rope ladders with plenty of grass, trees, bamboo and shrubbery.
