Max was kept as a ‘pet’ monkey for 25 years in Michigan. He arrived at Jungle Friends when his guardian decided he needed more freedom and monkey friends. Max is what we call ‘humanized’, but he seems to enjoy his new monkey friends, chatting with some, threatening others. Max wasn't quite sure about the new living arrangements, but it didn't take him long to make the transition with the help of his guardian who stayed on-site for three weeks to help Max settle in before she bade him a tearful goodbye. Max chooses his friends carefully and if he doesn't get a good first impression he might throw food or a toy at you. Living in a human home, Max never had the chance for monkey activities like his new favorite -- bug hunting. He is already an expert at digging them up or even grabbing bugs right out of the air!
