Dodger arrived at Jungle Friends when he was five years old. Dodger had been purchased as a gift and kept as a 'pet.' His 'owner' was misinformed regarding his diet and nutritional needs. Dodger became quite ill due to a vitamin deficiency and, as a result, his growth was terribly stunted. Dodger weighed only 2.5 pounds when he arrived at the sanctuary; a five-year-old capuchin monkey usually weighs around seven pounds. Since his arrival, Dodger has doubled in size! Dodger fit right into our Jungle Friends family. Almost immediately, Dodger was jumping and playing, enjoying the room to run and swing. Dodger has a good disposition and enjoys rough-and-tumble play with the other monkeys. For his small size, Dodger is quite daring, and always ready to protect his monkey friends by threatening new volunteers. In the evening the group settles in under their blankets, cuddled together for a good night's sleep.
