Joey

  • Species: Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis)
  • Gender: Male
  • Birthday: July 19, 2003
  • Arrival: November 21, 2007
  • Background: Research
  • Character: Intelligent

Joey was just four years old when he arrived at Jungle Friends with his companion Earl. These boys were bred and sold into research for medical studies; fortunately, the study was cancelled before they were 'used'. They narrowly escaped being sold to another laboratory!

Joey has a bounce in his step, and loves to shake his rattle toys and carry them in his tail. He is the clear leader of the pair; Earl watches Joey's every move, and follows him wherever he goes. Like any good leader, he watches out for his little friend Earl and often splits the spoils of his legendary grasshopper hunts. The only thing that has ever caused strife in this otherwise perfect friendship is the same thing that has caused squabbles in Squirrelville since time immemorial: mango-banana cereal puffs!
