Chance

  • Species: Cotton-Top Tamarins (Saguinus oedipus)
  • Gender: Male
  • Birthday: October 8, 2006
  • Arrival: June 24, 2014
  • Background: Research
  • Character: Polite

Chance, named after our sanctuary manager who sponsored him, was among the first 20 of 66 cotton-top tamarins lucky enough to be retired to Jungle Friends after the closure of a major primate research lab.

Although Chance had never seen the outdoor world before coming to the sanctuary, he was one of the first to go outside and it’s now where he spends most of his time. His lush, bamboo-filled habitat makes it easy for him to hide from people while he looks for bugs, stretches out in the sun, or watches the other monkeys run around. Chance also loves the food here at Jungle Friends, though he always lets his partner have first dibs on the food bowls. He’s such a little gentleman!
