Gretel is one of 32 cotton-top tamarins that were brought to Jungle Friends after the lab where they’d previously lived closed its doors. Gretel lost the use of her right forearm before arriving at Jungle Friends, but she’s adapted incredibly well and is still able to climb and explore like any other monkey! When Gretel first arrived, she struck her caregivers as a very shy and quiet tamarin. Once she was given access to the outdoors, however, all of that changed! Gretel and her partner were one of the first pairs to make it to their end of their runways, and she was the very first monkey to go into their outdoor habitat. Once in there, she shocked everybody by leaping from the side of her habitat straight into a nearby bush! While she’s still very reserved around humans, she’s continued to be one of the most adventurous cotton-tops at Jungle Friends.
