Puchi

Puchi, a Brown Capuchin, is approximately 20 years old, and was received by Jungle Friends on May 28th 2004. Puchi came from a zoological organization, which was his home for 4 years. The non-profit organization from northern Illinois was closing their doors due to lack of funding. Puchi was rescued by the organization after highway patrol found him running through traffic on the Eisenhower Expressway in downtown Chicago. Puchi had visible hair loss, not many teeth and after being checked by a veterinarian, had upper-respiratory problems. All symptoms pointed to him being in a fire. He had his teeth filed down to his gum line, and was unable to eat well, but slowly learned to adjust to his disabilities. Puchi could not use his tail and the veterinarian believed that he no longer had any feeling in his tail. Over the four years, Puchi grew stronger and even re-grew a small amount of hair. He has lived with his best friend Stinky, a while-faced capuchin, for 4 years and will continue to live with her until they can both be socialized with their own species. Puchi is a very sweet monkey who loves to smile, especially around his favorite guys. His favorite foods are grapes, avocado, and melon, and he loves to crunch on his monkey biscuits with his molars. Puchi sleeps all wrapped up in his blankets, usually flat on his back. He is such a happy content monkey, who screams with delight and coos when anyone comes near.
