We are frequently asked about visiting the monkeys or touring the Sanctuary. Because Jungle Friends is a true sanctuary, following all the requirements of the American Sanctuary Association, there is no public access to the grounds.
Volunteers, interns, and apprentices have access to Sanctuary grounds based on their work responsibilities. There is also an Open Volunteer Work Session every Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm, for individuals and groups. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and willing to work for at least four hours (more if you'd like!). If you would like to volunteer, please make a reservation here. A few hours from you makes a big difference in the lives of these monkeys.
Children under the age of 18 may attend one of our Special Volunteer Days, if prior arrangements are made with the Jungle Friends office. While on Sanctuary grounds, each child must be accompanied and closely supervised by a parent at all times.
Special Volunteer Days are posted on the Events Calendar. On these days, we have our usual volunteer work session from 10 am to 2 pm, followed by a tour led by Jungle Friends staff.
Monkey Sponsors and Donors enjoy special access to Jungle Friends by appointment only. Learn more about our Sponsor-A-Monkey Program.
Being a non-profit primate sanctuary, we rely on kind-hearted individuals like you. Our ability to provide a safe haven for these unwanted, abused, or neglected primates can be directly attributed to the donations, supplies, and time given to us by individuals who care enough to go out of their way to help others... in this case, to help 120 monkeys!
If you are at Jungle Friends, as volunteer, sponsor, or donor, we know you will remember that this is their home, their sanctuary. Many of the monkeys are anxious around new people; a lot of visitors coming and going can be upsetting, especially for the monkeys who were 'used' in laboratory research. Their comfort and well-being is our top priority. They deserve so much more than we are able to give them - they were born to be wild, so we try to provide them with as much enjoyment and as little stress as possible!
