Twas the Night Before Christmas...last minute holiday shopping!

December 24, 2011

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the sanctuary
not a monkey was stirring, not even Fat Larry.

The laundry was hung on the clothes line with care,
And the soups were at Rainforest cooking in there.

The monkeys were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of peanuts danced in their heads.

With the dogs all around me in my flannels and cap - we had just laid down for a quick little nap.

When out in the monkey yard there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the door I flew like a flash
I tore open the door and began to ask…

What’s wrong little monkeys?
Settle down and go back to sleep
All is quite well, there’s no need to weep.

It was Motley Crew and their neighbors raising a fuss -
so I whistled and shouted and called them by name,
now BamBam, now Frankie, now Chichi and Gus,
quiet down, you’re so loud - Koreymonde will complain.

And then in a twinkling, the night became still
As eight tiny munchkins flew by my window sill
and I thought to myself – I must be dreaming
or Cat has really been scheming!

Brandy looked puzzled, Nike was snoozing and Potter and Jackie just kept right on playing.

OK, so I am no poet, but I am lucky, or as my grandma would have said, “blessed”, to have the good fortune of living with over 100 monkeys, half a dozen dogs and several birds. I also have you, my loyal, compassionate supporters - without you, Jungle Friends would not be possible.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

And remember - give the gift of compassion this holiday!

Lots of monkey love,
Kari and the monks
