Brandi, one of our rescue dogs, has had a setback

March 5, 2012

Dear Friend of Jungle Friends,

Most of you know Brandi and how well she has been doing, despite being over 15 years old and her bout with renal failure last year. Although Brandi had a rough start to her life, she has had a very happy healthy life here at Jungle Friends for more than 12 years. Unfortnately, she had a bit of a setback. Her kidneys still look pretty good, however the lump in her throat is not getting better.

The first steroid injection REALLY helped her breathing and Brandi has continued to do better for months, until her breathing worsened last week. We did another CBC and she was a good candidate for another steroid injection, which she had last week. Although her breathing is somewhat better, it is still labored.

I have an appointment with Dr. Schirmer today at 2 pm, we are going to repeat the x-rays to see if the lump has grown or remained the same, then we will do an ultra sound to see if it is something that can be removed or at least diagnose what it is.

Please keep Brandi in your heart this afternoon and think good thoughts.

Lots of monkey love,
Kari and the monks

P.S. Louie is doing just great!!
