George is a brown capuchin who arrived unexpectedly on March 11th, 2007. George was a ‘pet’ for 18 years until he had attacked his ‘owner’ so many times that all of George’s teeth were pulled! Unfortunately, these types of drastic measures do not solve the problem. The instinct for dominance is there, and George heard the calling. The ‘owner’ realized that George needed to be with his own kind and Jungle Friends was contacted.

George is fitting in very well at Jungle Friends and enjoys the large outdoor habitats. One of George’s favorite pastimes is taking leaves off the plants and either sampling them himself or offering them to our carestaff. When George is not busy with plant destruction, he is with his best monkey friend, Jill. The pair enjoys lengthy grooming sessions and they always look out for one another.

George and Jill snuggle up together every night in the soft blankets that Jill stuffs with Spanish moss for a cushier bed; she also tucks away special snacks in the bedding to eat in the night. The pair now inspires the carestaff to sing a new song when passing by their habitat ... “Hey, there’s George’s girl...”
