  • Arrival: July 20, 2002

  • Character: Talented

Iris joined the Jungle Friends family when she was seven years old. She was purchased as a "pet" and lived alone. Left to her own devices, Iris became a great escape artist. At one point, Iris escaped her cage and was later found living in a Florida orange grove with a lovely view of the lake. It was clear that Iris needed a new home with more room and companions of her own kind. Iris has integrated well and has made many monkey friends. As for her talent of escaping, Iris keeps the Jungle Friends caregivers on their toes. She is good at untwisting wire, as we learned when she started to unravel a hole in one of the older chain link enclosures. Iris will inspect her habitat from top to bottom looking for the slightest defects! Iris enjoys her grooming sessions with her monkey friends and loves to swing through the trees in her habitat, play with her toys, forage and hunt for treats.
