KC came to Jungle Friends when she was about 30 years old. KC lived her life as a “pet” until her “owner” realized that she needed to be with other monkeys. KC arrived at the sanctuary with a small mirror she brought with her. For nearly 30 years, her reflection in that mirror was the only monkey KC had ever seen - and her only friend. KC settled in to her new Jungle Friends life quickly, but continued to use her mirror for companionship, talking to her mirror, trying to feed her mirror, it was very sad to see. Then KC met Bongo, who had spent nearly 20 years in iron toxicity studies in laboratory research. KC and Bongo became fast friends. And when Bongo lost the use of his legs, KC cared for him, groomed him and stood by him, and then the miracle happened, Bongo got up and walked! KC and Bongo can often be found lounging in the sun, grooming one another. KC no longer needs the monkey in the mirror.
