Mico Monster: After months of preparation, Mico Monster, and his companion of ten years, Miki Moo, arrived at Jungle Friends. Mico and Miki met the fate of many “pet” monkeys; after attacking their guardians, Jungle Friends was called. Also, like many monkeys in captive situations, Mico is diabetic and was insulin-dependent upon his arrival at the sanctuary. We have been successful in managing diabetes with diet, low stress and plenty of exercise. Mico is a real "man's man"; he will erupt into excited screams over any male human within sight! He is often seen patrolling the runways surrounding their habitat, protecting their new home. His name is misleading, however, as Mico is no "Monster." When he smiles, he looks like a pleasantly plump and cheerful Buddha, ready to impart wisdom and brighten your day. Several years later, Mico and Miki were joined by their old friend Cookie, another capuchin who they knew from their previous life. The three of them take turns grooming each other. A very happy trio!
