Katie’s story is one that really pulls on your heart strings. She spent most of her first years as a breeding monkey, having multiple babies ripped from her arms days after giving birth. Katie was even involved in a horrible fight within her troupe at the facility that almost killed her. Luckily for Katie, after hearing her story a woman bought her from the facility in hopes of giving her a better life.

After keeping her as a pet for a few years, Katie's human parent realized that monkeys do not make good pets. Katie then went to live at a golden-handed tamarin breading facility in Texas. Katie was the only white-faced capuchin there and was living by herself. When Katie’s human realized she would be living alone for the rest of her life in Texas, she contacted Jungle Friends! Katie has adjusted very well to life here at the sanctuary and we are hoping she will become friends with Bailey, a male white-faced capuchin.
