Spanky arrived at Jungle Friends with his companion Bonnie after they escaped their cage one day -- there were dire consequences. White-faced capuchins are even more territorial and aggressive than most monkey species and even more so when in captivity. Spanky and Bonnie attacked and terrorized the housekeeper, resulting in a lengthy hospital stay for the woman and a $100,000+ lawsuit. Both monkeys were facing euthanasia from the local authorities, thankfully, it was Jungle Friends to the rescue! Spanky is very enthusiastic and spirited. When he gets keyed up, his vocalizations can be heard throughout the sanctuary, especially when he gets his neighbor, Ernie, to join in the duet. When Spanky sees someone he really likes, he dances and spins in circles. Spanky and Bonnie spend most of their days playing in their spacious habitat. They love to play in the trees, swing from the ropes and chase each other, playing hide-and-seek in the lush foliage. They also enjoy grooming each other; they are a lovely couple!
