Joni arrived at Jungle Friends from Canada when she was 18 years old. Joni was accompanied by her mother, Gussie, who has since passed of old age.

Joni was born disabled. Her growth was stunted and she weighs barely three pounds. Joni's back legs do not extend. Still, she has acclimated amazingly well to life without legs by walking on her hands, holding her back end up in the air and balancing with her tail.

Despite her disability, Joni is a speed demon through her habitat. She spends much of her day traveling through the runways to visit other monkeys in nearby habitats or perhaps we should say, to threaten other monkeys. Joni is the size of a very young monkey, but her attitude is definitely that of a confident and assertive adult! At the end of the day, Joni and her monkey friends enjoy relaxing grooming sessions.
