Billy, who was known as "Big Bad Bill", arrived here at Jungle Friends with his companion Rosie in the summer of 1995. Billy was the largest and most muscular of the capuchins here. He was also the most aggressive, well, the most misunderstood. His history is unknown; all we know is that someone removed all of his teeth. He may have started out as a Helping Hands Monkey, as all of their teeth are pulled, or he may have just bit the wrong person one too many times.

It is appalling what lengths people will go to in the name of having a "pet" monkey. Where will the insult end?! He was still able to eat most everything the other monkeys could eat, he was just a little slower since he had to gum his food to bits. We made sure that we give extra soft treats. Billy was housed with Scooter and Pickles. Scooter is presently the dominant male, but Billy seemed to be vying for the top position. Billy was very possessive of his territory and of his girl. Despite his large size, Billy was faster than a speeding bullet! If an unsuspecting volunteer got too close to Billy, he will pull out a chunk of hair! Even without teeth, we imagine he could have still taken a good bite out of you - his jaw muscles were extremely strong! Billy's favorite past-times were intimidating volunteers, decapitating his stuffed animals, and last but certainly not least, grooming his girls and play-wrestling with Scooter. Believe it or not, "Big Bad Bill" could be a big teddy bear.
