Floyd was captured in the rainforest as a youngster, stolen from his family and the freedom of his native home. Floyd was exported to the US where he was sold into iron toxicity research where he spent nearly two decades, in the laboratory – all alone in a small cage. Fortunately, after the studies ended, Floyd and eight other capuchins were retired to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary. Floyd was then able to enjoy large, naturalistic outdoor habitats. Floyd was introduced to a monkey who arrived due to the closure of a roadside zoo, and they really hit it off! Floyd probably hadn’t seen another female monkey since his capture; fortunately, she was a woman-of-the-world and showed Floyd the ropes. They were very happy together, always at each others' side and in the evening they huddled close together for a good night’s sleep.
