Wilson was brought to Jungle Friends from Forest Animal Rescue after she lost her companion there. Without any other tamarins at the rescue, we were asked to integrate her into our colony. Wilson originated from a tourist attraction in Winter Haven, FL called Cypress Gardens which closed in May of 2002. Their colony was left to breed uncontrolled and became overcrowded. Once the tamarins started killing babies, they decided to stop breeding - Wilson and several others had been separated and we agreed to take them, leaving only males at the attraction. They closed completely not long after that because their remaining colony of tamarins had all "suddenly died from a virus".

Wilson made friends very easily and took to her new home right away. Wilson was an inquisitive little cotton-top who enjoyed running up and down her long runway, lounging on the highest perch in her habitat, and hunting for bugs.
