Zippy 2004 - 2014

Zippy arrived at Jungle Friends along with 19 other cotton-top tamarins. He was lucky enough to be among the first 20 tamarins of the 66 retired to the sanctuary after the closure of a major primate research lab where he’d lived his entire life.

Zippy and his partner were both very quick to go from their indoor enclosure through their runways and into their outdoor habitat, where they spent most of their time. Zippy even had a favorite branch where he liked to sit and watch the neighboring cotton-tops. Though he was somewhat cautious about people, he was very excited about the food provided. He loved digging through his bowl in hopes of finding pieces of dried fruit, his favorite food.
