Gregory was retired to Jungle Friends from nictotine studies in 2018 after FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb ended the study permanently. This monumental moment marked history as the first time the FDA has retired research monkeys to a sanctuary.

Gregory is the opposite of his pal Riot - he is serious, dignified, sweet and calm. He can always be found patiently waiting for whatever is for lunch and thoughtfully searching a caregiver’s face for a moment of eye contact before accepting a treat. His gentlemanly demeanor helps restore the environment to peace and quiet after an announcement from Riot.
