  • Arrival: June 24, 2014
  • Background: Research

Arlette, named after her first sponsor, is one of 66 cotton-top tamarins retired to Jungle Friends after the closure of the lab where they lived their entire lives. She and her twin brother were among the first group of 20 monkeys to come to their new sanctuary home, and she’s been happily exploring ever since.

Though Arlette seems shy at first, she’s actually a big flirt! She will happily flick her tongue (a form of flirting in cotton-tops) at those that she recognizes. Arlette was one of the first monkeys to go outside, though it took her a while to move more than a few feet into the runway leading from the indoor enclosure to the outdoor habitat. Luckily she’s grown much bolder, and she and her brother enjoy spending their afternoons in a nice, shady spot in their outdoor habitat where they can enjoy the breeze.
